This series of .9999 fine silver coins is minted by the Perth Mint and is struck in both 2 oz and 10 oz.

The baby platypus is shown frolicking in the river with its Mom surrounded by river rocks and plants. Sometimes referred to as the “duck-billed” platypus, this semiaquatic, egg-laying mammal is endemic to eastern Australia, including Tasmania. The unusual appearance of the platypus caused a bit of a stir among European naturalists and scientists who, upon examining a preserved platypus body (in 1799), determined it was a fake, made of several animals sewn together.

All of The Next Generation coins display a mother and baby from an Australian Outback species. The obverse features the 6th generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jody Clark. Inscriptions at the rim include, “ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA,” “10oz 9999 Ag,” “2021,” and “10 DOLLARS.” The background of both the obverse and reverse feature very micro-engraved radial lines which provide added security,

This series also includes an unusual aspect, all of the coins will be struck as Piedfort coins. This means that the coins, while the same diameter as Perth’s standard round silver coins of the same weight, will be double the thickness.
