The palladium Maple Leaf was first introduced by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2018. It is .9995 fine palladium and is only available as a 1 ounce coin. It features the same iconic maple leaf design as the Platinum Maple Leaf.
This coin’s weight, content, and purity are guaranteed by the Government of Canada.
It includes two of RCM’s respected security features:
- Microengraving– This security feature consists of a textured maple leaf that is micro engraved with laser technology on a small area of the reverse side of the coin. In the centre of this mark, visible under magnification, is the numeral “18”, denoting the coin’s year of issue.
- Radial lines– The background field of both the reverse and obverse feature precisely machined radial lines. This exact design element creates a light diffracting pattern that is specific to this coin.
